Players simply attach the Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter to their Game Boy Advance systems and communicate directly with one another. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (GBA)Se flere produkter fra AmazonOne day you awake to find that you've been turned into a Pokémon and the land around you is being destroyed by natural disasters. It's up to you to explore dungeons filled with wild monsters and uncover your true destiny and purpose in a game where you get to "be" a Pokémon. The lowdown: Rather than being one of the core role-playing games in the Pokémon series this is a spin-off based on ChunSoft's long running (in Japan at least) Mystery Dungeon series. The basic idea is that you enter a random generated dungeon and defeat all the wild Pokémon you find within it. Most of the standbys of the Pokémon world also make an appearance, including Technical Machines that enable you to lean new abilities, resistances and weakness to different elemental attacks. You can't capture wild Pokémon but you can recruit them to your team, which adds something to your strategic options. Admittedly the game can get repetitive, but there's generally enough to see and do until the "real" Pokémon sequels come out sometime next year. Most exciting moment: The combat is a clever mix between real-time and turn-based combat, with wild Pokémon moving about the dungeon at the same time as you. You can have four Pokémon in your team at once, with the computer controlling the other three, and each can have four attacks or abilities each. If you're sensible you'll put together a varied team so you've got an attack ready for whatever enemy comes your way. Since you ask: As with most Pokémon titles there are two versions of the game, in this case one for the DS and one for the GBA. They're both essentially the same, except with different distributions of Pokémon in each. The DS does have a couple of extra options though, as well as an easier to use touch screen interface. Diamond and Pearl sold 5 million copies in Japan in under three months and 1 million in America in just one month, breaking all records for the year and the series. At first sight though this looks disappointingly similar to the existing games, with only a subtle 3D effect for the game world and largely static 2D battles. However the gameplay has undergone a complete overhaul, adding numerous new features and reintroducing others from Gold/Silver/Crystal, that had previously been removed. The basics are still the same though, as you venture out into the world (called Sinnoh this time) in an attempt to catalogue each and every pokemon and battle the evil Team Galactic. Catching and training a pokemon for combat also works the same as before, although beauty and talent contests have been greatly expanded for those that prefer as little violence as possible. The game includes a day and night cycle, which severely impacts the appearance of pokemon, and you are given a new gadget called a poketch which starts as a simple watch but can be upgraded to everything from a scanner to a map. Secret bases are back and considerably more sophisticated than before but the most important new feature by far is the online mode. Pokémon Dash (Nintendo DS)Se flere produkter fra AmazonNintendo have certainly rolled out the big guns for the launch of their new console. Although a true Pokemon role-playing game is not due for a while yet, the little critters have made their way onto the Nintendo DS via a rather more unusual route. Pokemon Dash is a racing game viewed from a top down perspective, making its most obvious point of comparison the old Codemasters Micro Machines games. You control one of a dozen or so Pokemon (more courses and monsters can be added to the game if you have a copy of one of the previous GBA games) around an ostensibly simple course of checkpoints. The big gimmick with the game is that instead of using the D-pad as in a normal race game you have to physically move Pikachu and pals by constantly rubbing the screen as if the stylus was the little fella's scampering feet. Controlling direction at the same time creates a surprisingly tactile game where you almost feel you've got as much exercise as your chosen Pokémon. You have to hit checkpoints in a certain order and the game soon introduces sections where you have to use balloons or the Nessie-like Lapras to cross water, with the former forcing you to skydive to the ground aiming directly at the checkpoint. As fun as it is, this is an almost unapologetically simple game, with little additional depth revealing itself once you've got the hang of the basic principles.
